Health & Safety (ESSENTIAL READING)

A full review of the Fire Risk Assessment and a more general Health and Safety Risk Assessment is carried out annually. The cottage is fitted with 2 smoke alarms, a carbon monoxide alarm and a fire extinquisher. To maximise your safety, please also:

  • Only use the log burner, electric radiators, tumble dryer, washing machine, dish washer, cooker, microwave, air fryer WHEN IN AND AWAKE.
  • Strictly NO SMOKING in the cottage or outside by the Oil Tank at any time
  • NO CANDLES to be used inside the cottage
  • Lock the upstairs windows as necessary if children are using the bedrooms
  • Use the hasps/hooks by the upstairs windows as necessary to remove any loose hanging chords
  • Do not let children play near the Log Burner and always keep the Log Burner doors closed when lit.
  • Keep the front door key in the lock at all times and keep the back door key close by to ensure easy emergency exit if necessary. As a last resort all most windows can be used for exit.
  • Do not use the front gate at night and if using the front gate during the day take particular care when stepping down to the roadway.
  • There is a single step outside three of the bedrooms which is easily missed in the dark so please leave one of the 2 low wattage lights on overnight.
  • Do NOT enter the barn at any time.
